We eat a wide variety of food, depending on which family we come from. Some of us can eat everything from stingrays to sea snakes, fish, shellfish, shrimps, jellyfish, turtles, sea birds, lobster, crabs, seals, porpoises, other sharks and many other things that we can find and which we can eat.

Some of us are filter feeders which means that we filter in small creatures and plants such as plankton through our gills just like the Blue Whale does. These sharks have very small teeth that they don't really use. There are, however, a couple of things we cannot eat. We cannot eat a fish called the Moses sole because when we sharks bite into it, this fish releases a chemical into our mouth which we hate and we end up letting go of it and it swims away.

The other fish that we cannot eat are the Pufferfish because when we try to eat one of these fish, it gets into the our throat and blows itself up there, blocking the water from passing over our gills, which can kill us if we do not let it out.

Some of us also have a favorite food. For example, the hammerheads eat stingrays. Bull sharks especially like to eat other sharks. I know that’s not friendly if that’s what you were thinking.

In general, we eat little food every week compared to our size. Since we are cold blooded, unlike you, we do not need to heat our bodies with the energy from the food like you and our energy-saving way of swimming means that we can do without food for a month and still survive.
