Although we don't like to attack humans, some of us do make mistakes sometimes and confuse you for being prey. I am here to tell you how you can help us to stop this happening:
1. Always stay in groups, since we are more likely to attack a person on his own. Therefore, do not wander too far from the shore, as this will place you far away from help if you need it.
2. Avoid being in the water when it is dark because this is when we are most active and you won't be able to see us.
3. Do not enter the water if you are bleeding because we sharks have a strong sense of smell and detect the smell of blood from a far distance.
4. Wearing shiny things is not a good idea because when they shine, they confuse us and we will think that we are seeing fish scales shining, so we attack.
5. Seeing dolphins or porpoises will probably mean that we are there too as both dolphins and ourselves usually feed on the same food.
6. Do not enter the water if you know we are present and leave the water if you can see us. And, of course, do not annoy us if you see us!
