Because we are often thought of as monsters of the sea, you may think it's a good thing that we are being killed, making the ocean a safer place. However, because we have very few enemies that can kill us (other than humans), this puts us at the top of the food chain and makes sure that the weak and diseased fish types are eaten by us and removed from the ocean, keeping the ocean a healthy and balanced environment. That is not to forget that we are great creatures like lions and tigers who you need to keep alive to learn about us and admire our beauty.

Another main reason why humans need to be careful about fishing us out a lot is because we take a long time to become adults, like you do. This means that if you catch us while we are young, we will not have the chance to grow up and produce baby sharks, which are called pups.

We are different to many other fish. who take a much shorter time to produce more fish and when they do, they produce a lot of fish at a time, when we sharks only usually give birth to four pups at a time.
